Help us support those families facing a cancer diagnosis.
East Valley Women’s League is currently partnered with two incredible projects that deal with one of the most difficult challenges in human history: cancer. Help us assist families facing the difficult challenge of cancer. We support families as they face the emotional, physical, and financial challenges of cancer and chemotherapy.
Founded by EVWL member Alyssa Dinowitz, after the passing of her mother Mariann Gofonia (a four time breast cancer survivor), Chemo Companions provides support to individuals undergoing chemotherapy.
Every Friday our Chemo Companion volunteers visit with people undergoing chemotherapy. To date we’ve provided 1500 care packages filled with lotion, blankets, food, and activities to help pass the time during treatment. Additionally, our Chemo Companions stock the Ironwood Cancer Research Center Food Pantry for patients and families in need.
Over 4,000 individuals have been served by this project!
It’s All About You (a partnership with Children’s Cancer Network)
East Valley Women’s League supports It’s All About You, a partnership with Children’s Cancer Network, which provides various monthly opportunities to help with activities and meals at the Children’s Cancer Network Resource Center in Chandler, Cardon’s Children Hospital, and Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Other outreach by our members includes supporting Monthly Wig Days by purchasing wigs, volunteering with the annual Mother’s Day Tea. We also provide wigs for children undergoing chemotherapy and much needed food, clothing, and other necessities through an annual Adopt-A-Family program during the holidays.
