Help us support their future

Children and teens are one of our biggest focuses at EVWL, which is why we have five distinct projects aimed at bettering the lives of the youth in our community. Help us help them through one of these impactful ventures.

The Cinderella Affair

The Cinderella Affair is EVWL’s largest project. Founded back in 2002, The Cinderella Affair was created with the idea that every girl deserves to feel like a princess

The Fairy Godmothers at The Cinderella Affair work year-round to make sure that everyone can afford to experience the perfect prom night. Each and every deserving princess that visits The Cinderella Affair Castle gets outfitted with a dress, shoes, jewelry, a purse, a bra, and is even given the option for custom alterations – all for free.

HUGS (Helping through Understanding, Giving, and Support)

EVWL members have partnered with Achieve Youth Services to mentor youth who are placed in a licensed foster care setting. Our members share the belief that, “No child can truly be lost until we give up on them, and an environment with strong role models utilizing nurturing actions will help foster this growth and aid the children to make changes within themselves.”

KIT (Kids In Transition)

Each year hundreds of teens come into the care of the Department of Child Safety (DCS), often coming into care with no, or limited, hygiene items and extra clothing. Through EVWL’s Kids in Transition (KIT) project, these teens are provided with drawstring bags containing full size toiletries and other needed necessities. KIT also provides much needed socks, underwear, pajamas, shorts, t-shirts, and pillows to teens entering into the care of DCS.

STIP (Supporting Teens In Parenting)

East Valley Women’s League has assisted more than 200 pregnant and parenting high schoolers with food, transportation, and necessities like clothing and diapers as they are completing their high school education. Our volunteers, in partnership with the Tempe Union High School District’s TAPP program at Compadre High School, provide books to encourage the young parents to read to their kids at home, as well as a technology scholarship to equip one student with a computer and a printer as they continue their education after high school.

SUITS (Setting Up Incredible Teens for Success)

Setting up Incredible Teens for Success (SUITS) provides deserving young men in the East Valley a completed suited outfit for college interviews, job interviews, prom and various other social functions.

This year 50 young men will be selected by teachers and administrators from East Valley schools to receive a suit based on their financial need, leadership, and character. EVWL is proud to partner with Men’s Wearhouse at 3400 E. Chandler Blvd #1 in the Chandler Gateway Center to provide a full suit, shirt, ties, belt, socks and shoes to these deserving young men.
